I think it is a myth to believe you don't want or need help from others because everyone, including you, is already using help from others. There is not a single human being on earth or elsewhere in this creation who knows it all and can do it all by themselves.
When you travel, you get into a vehicle that was built by someone else because you cannot spend your lifetime trying to figure out how to built, and then build a vehicle. Even if by some miracle you build that vehicle, by the time you are done, the purpose for which you needed the vehicle maybe far gone. Beside, you cannot manufacture every individual part needed in a vehicle on you own. Even if you could, you still need nature to provide the raw materials.
You subconsciously understand your own limitations and that's why you are willing to give money in exchange for a service or any other type of object to help you achieve a desired outcome. The only reason why the transaction with money is not seen or considered help is simply because you are exchanging tangible things. Money in exchange for a vehicle or money in exchange for a service.
If you are going through a door with your hands full and a perfect stranger notices and run to open that door for you. The simple fact that you enter through that door with all your stuff in hands shows that you accepted and used someone else's help. You may believe that you never asked for it, but the fact is that you did, because communication is not only verbal. Beside the greater part of communication is actually nonverbal.
If you quit looking at everything from your superhero standpoint and stop thinking that giving is always about money or tangible things, then you will start seeing the true beauty that lies in the essence of life only with the presence of others. In fact, you will start understanding that you only find your true value and genuinely enjoy your possessions in the presence of others and without them, your own existence is meaningless since it cannot reach it's full potential alone in a vacuum.
From that standpoint, asking for help become an opportunity given to others to feel valued, useful, purposeful, and needed. On the other hand, you will genuinely appreciate others’ help only after your efforts invested in achieving something is not enough but supplemented by others'. Your efforts alone are not enough and will never be because you don't know it all and can't do it all.
Individuals are fractions of the whole. In more concrete terms, we as spiritual beings are fractions of the spiritual kind. Everyone was given a talent as gift from the spiritual realm. Alone, one talent is not enough but together, when talents complement one-another, you have harmony, flow, beauty, and the product of their union is the closest thing there is to perfection.
This can be seen with music and art in general. A single note played at the same frequency could sound awful to the point of driving someone crazy. However, when other notes are played alongside as to complement the first beat, you can create harmony, symphony, music that pleases the senses and is capable of moving and healing people.
The same is true with painting. Give a pure black canvas with pure black paint and pure black tools in a black room to the best painter who ever set foot on earth. You will quickly realize the limit of their talent. The best paints are the product of a combination of more than one color with more than one shade.
